Painted in Austin, Texas by Christine Helen Olson.

Christine Helen Olson has been painting original art for almost forty years.  Her mother and grandmother allowed her to play with high quality acrylic paints at a young age.  She still has not learned how to wash brushes properly but she is getting better (sorry Mom and Grandma)— pro hint: don’t leave them around long enough to dry! Christine studied art making and history in high school with wonderful teachers in Germany and Italy and went onto attend and graduate from the Academy of Art in San Francisco.  She has shown her work throughout the United States and has collectors around the world.  In 2018, she founded the gift shop and website, Sfingiday, and she has enjoyed a new career of curating handmade goods.  Lots of learning involved with running a business and every day is a new challenge.  Christine is finding new inspiration for her work in Austin and she is looking forward to new approaches to blank canvases and a second shop as soon as she can find a great retail space.  When Christine is not shopping for Sfingiday or running social media or painting art, you can find her homeschooling her children.  She could not do it all without the unconditional love and support of her husband, two kids, two dogs and a cat.  And she sure as heck could not run the Fremont shop without her exceptional team in Seattle.  “Life is for the living. Try and have fun.  Work your ass off doing what you love. Forgive yourself when you make mistakes because you will.” —Christine
